K-Electric (KE) is Pakistan's only vertically integrated power utility, generating, transmitting, and distributing electricity to more than 3.7 million customers across Karachi, Dhabeji, and Gharo in Sindh, and Uthal, Vinder, and Bela in Balochistan. Privatised in 2005, K-Electric is a Public Interest Company listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange and regulated by NEPRA, and it is billed on its own system, entirely separate from the PITC portal that LESCO, MEPCO, and the other WAPDA DISCOs share. This page explains how to check a K-Electric bill online, what each charge on it means, and how to reach K-Electric directly.

K-Electric Bill

How to Check Your K-Electric Bill Online

K-Electric bills are not read from a single reference number the way WAPDA DISCO bills are. Checking one takes your account number plus a short verification step on K-Electric's own system.

  1. 1

    Find your 13-digit account number

It is printed on any previous K-Electric bill, usually near the consumer details. Older bills may also show a separate contract number or consumer number, but the account number is the one K-Electric asks for first.

  2. 2

Continue to the official K-Electric portal

Enter your account number in the checker above. We copy it to your clipboard and open K-Electric's own Digital Bills & Payments page, where you paste it in along with your registered email and mobile number.

  3. 3

    Verify and view your bill

K-Electric sends a verification step to confirm it is really your account, then shows the current amount, due date, and units. From there you can view, print, or download the duplicate bill.

K-Electric Duplicate Bill: Every Way to Get One

If your K-Electric bill was lost, damaged, or never delivered, you do not need to visit a Customer Experience Centre for a copy. K-Electric offers more ways to get a duplicate bill than most DISCOs, because it runs its own customer channels instead of relying only on a web portal.

Whichever channel you use, the duplicate carries the same account details, amount, and due date as the original, so it is accepted for payment at banks, ATMs, post offices, and mobile wallets, and it works as proof of billing for offices that ask for one.

Understanding Your K-Electric Bill

A K-Electric bill is not laid out quite like a WAPDA DISCO bill. It combines your usage charges with several K-Electric and regulator-specific adjustments.

How a K-Electric bill is laid out

Units consumed
kWh
Variable charges
Units x tariff rate
FCA and QTA
Per unit adjustment
Taxes and surcharges
Duty, GST, PHL, MUCT
Total payable
Rs ------

Example layout only. Your bill shows the real figures.

Variable charges
Based on the units you consumed, at the NEPRA-approved tariff rate for your customer category. This is the core of the bill and rises with usage.
Fixed charges
A flat monthly charge that applies regardless of how many units you used, tied to your connection type and sanctioned load.
FCA (Fuel Charges Adjustment)
A per-unit adjustment, positive or negative, that passes on the difference between the fuel cost assumed in the base tariff and the actual cost of generation.
QTA (Quarterly Tariff Adjustment)
A periodic adjustment NEPRA applies across a quarter to true up costs that were not fully captured in monthly charges.
Additional Surcharge and MUCT
Additional Surcharge (PHL) funds circular debt payments set by the government, and MUCT is a municipal charge collected on behalf of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation.
Taxes and duty
Income Tax, General Sales Tax, and Electricity Duty are added on top of the energy charges, and Income Tax is higher for consumers not on the FBR active taxpayers list.

For the current rate per unit by category, read the tariff and slab rates guide, or use K-Electric's own FCA Calculator for the latest fuel adjustment.

K-Electric Peak Hours and Off-Peak Timings

Peak hours apply to Time of Use (ToU) meters and change with the season. Off-peak covers the remaining 20 hours of the day at a lower rate.

Peak hours

April to October: 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM. November to March: 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Shifting heavy appliances outside this window reduces the peak share of your bill.

Off-peak hours

The remaining 20 hours of the day, billed at the lower off-peak rate. Running air conditioners, geysers, and washing machines outside the peak window keeps more of your usage at this rate.

K-Electric Bill Calculation

Want an estimate before the official bill arrives? Enter your monthly units and tariff category in the bill calculator, or use K-Electric's own FCA Calculator and Energy Consumption Calculator on ke.com.pk for a tariff-specific figure. The amount shown on your official K-Electric bill is always final.

Areas Served by K-Electric

K-Electric covers roughly 6,500 square kilometres, serving Karachi and nearby areas in Sindh and Balochistan. If you live in any of these areas, K-Electric is your electricity provider.

K-Electric Bill FAQs

How do I check my K-Electric bill online?

Enter your 13-digit K-Electric account number in the checker above. It copies the number to your clipboard and opens K-Electric's own Digital Bills & Payments page, where you add your registered email and mobile number to view your bill. Unlike WAPDA DISCOs, K-Electric needs this extra verification step, not just the account number.

What is the difference between my K-Electric account number, contract number, and consumer number?

According to K-Electric's own guidance, the account number is the single most important reference and the one to use for every interaction, including checking a bill. The contract number and consumer number, also printed on the bill, are mainly for K-Electric's internal and vendor use.

Can I get my K-Electric duplicate bill on WhatsApp?

Yes. Save 0348-0000118, send "Hi" on WhatsApp, and you can request your duplicate bill along with registering complaints, checking your power status, or downloading an income tax certificate, through K-Electric's 24/7 bilingual WhatsApp service.

How do I check my K-Electric bill by SMS?

Text REG followed by your 13-digit account number to 8119 to register once. After that, send BILL to 8119 for your current bill by reply SMS. You can also send BILL [account number] directly without registering first.

Is K-Electric part of the same PITC system as LESCO, MEPCO, or FESCO?

No. K-Electric is a separate, privately owned utility with its own billing system. WAPDA DISCOs like LESCO and MEPCO share the PITC bill portal, but K-Electric bills are checked only through K-Electric's own website, app, WhatsApp, or SMS channels.

What is the K-Electric helpline number for complaints?

Call 118 or (021) 99000, available 24/7, for billing complaints and power queries, or 118 immediately for emergencies such as sparking or broken wires. You can also complain by WhatsApp, SMS to 8119, or email at customer.care@ke.com.pk.

Does K-Electric have an official app?

Yes, the KE Live app lets you view live power and load-shedding status, view and pay bills, register and track complaints, apply for new connections, update your details, and report theft, all from your phone.

What are K-Electric's Customer Experience Centres?

K-Electric runs 22 Customer Experience Centres (CECs), 42 Customer Facilitation Centres (CFCs), and 23 mobile vans across Karachi for in-person bill and connection queries. Most are open Monday to Saturday; see the K-Electric contact page for the centre nearest you.

What are K-Electric's peak hours?

For Time of Use meters, peak hours run 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM from April to October, and 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM from November to March. The rest of the day, about 20 hours, is billed at the lower off-peak rate.

How is my K-Electric bill calculated, and why does it look different from a WAPDA DISCO bill?

K-Electric's bill combines Variable Charges based on your units, Fixed Charges, the Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA), a Quarterly Tariff Adjustment (QTA), an Additional Surcharge and MUCT, and taxes including Income Tax, Sales Tax, and Electricity Duty. This structure is specific to K-Electric and differs from the FPA and slab model WAPDA DISCOs use.

How can I avoid the Late Payment Surcharge on my K-Electric bill?

Pay before the due date shown on your bill. K-Electric adds a Late Payment Surcharge to the outstanding amount once the due date has passed, and the payable total shown on later reprints reflects that surcharge.

Can I apply for K-Electric net metering for solar power?

Yes. K-Electric offers Net Billing for rooftop solar through its New Connections service, separate from the WAPDA ENC portal used by other DISCOs. Applications and technical requirements are listed on K-Electric's own Net Metering page.

Which areas does K-Electric serve?

K-Electric serves Karachi, Dhabeji, and Gharo in Sindh, and Uthal, Vinder, and Bela in Balochistan, covering about 6,500 square kilometres and more than 3.7 million customers.

Is this the official K-Electric website?

No. This is an independent consumer platform, not run by K-Electric. Your bill is checked directly on K-Electric's own system. The official K-Electric website is ke.com.pk, and the bill and payments page is ke.com.pk/bills-e-payments.
